JEMIMA'S PLAYHOUSE MAKES HISTORY WITH ITS FIRST NOVEL, BAHAMAMAN ORIGINS
Beloved children's superhero leaps from music and the classroom into the pages of an exciting new literary adventure
ATLANTA, GA — “He's flying in the air. It's BahamaMan! Look over there. It's BahamaMan! He can even lift planes. It's BahamaMan! I stand for justice! It's BahamaMan!”
For countless children who have experienced the magic of Jemima's Playhouse, these lyrics are more than just words to a song. They are the unmistakable introduction to BahamaMan, the larger-than-life superhero who has captured young imaginations through music, laughter, and unforgettable performances.
But every superhero has a beginning. And this one is about to change everything.
Jemima's Playhouse is thrilled to announce the release of BahamaMan Origins, its first-ever novel and a landmark achievement for the educational entertainment company.
Written by author and Jemima's Playhouse co-founder Dr. Tyrone Sawyer II, BahamaMan Origins takes readers on an extraordinary journey into the untold beginnings of one of the company's most recognizable characters.
Long before the heroic rescues, extraordinary powers, and legendary adventures, there was a young prince with a future he could never have imagined.
What happened next? That's where the adventure begins!
Packed with imagination, mystery and unexpected twists, BahamaMan Origins invites young readers to experience a whole new side of a hero they thought they knew.
For Jemima's Playhouse, this publication represents far more than the release of a new book. It marks a bold expansion of the company's creative universe. It brings its original characters to life in an entirely new way and inviting a new generation of readers to discover the joy of storytelling.
“Dr. Jemima and I started Jemima's Playhouse 15 years ago from the counter in our kitchen, and we've had a tremendous time helping children meet their imagination,” said Dr. Tyrone Sawyer II, author and co-founder of Jemima's Playhouse. “We've watched children sing along with BahamaMan, cheer for him, and embrace him as their own superhero. Now, for the first time, they get to discover where his journey began. Writing this novel has been an incredible experience because we're opening the door to an entirely new world of storytelling. We want young readers to turn every page wondering what happens next. Most importantly, we want them to have fun reading!”
Jemima's Playhouse has grown into an educational entertainment company reaching
approximately two million students in-person each year throughout Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, Alabama, and Kentucky.
Now, with BahamaMan Origins, Jemima's Playhouse is taking that mission to an exciting new level.
Jemima’s Playhouse’s entry into the world of novels represents an opportunity to connect with older readers, inspire a love of independent reading, and introduce the magic of Jemima's Playhouse to audiences beyond the classroom.
And while the story's biggest secrets remain safely hidden between the pages, one thing is certain: BahamaMan's greatest adventure may have started long before anyone knew his name.
